Our Services ::  ACCESSING THE PROGRAM

Accessing the EAP is as easy as making a phone call. A local and/or toll-free phone number is provided for every employee.

  • An employee, family member, supervisor, shop steward or a management consultation can initiate the service request.

  • An appointment is scheduled for a face-to-face interview to assess the issue and develop a plan. The situation may be resolved within the EAP sessions or a referral is made to a community resource.

  • Follow up with the employee or family member and with the referral resource is conducted.

Types of Access

Self-Referral
The employee or family member calls the EAP directly for an appointment. There is no supervisor involvement. This encourages employees to feel comfortable about calling for help before an issue has an adverse effect on job performance.

Supervisor Referral
In situations where the supervisor or human resource specialist is aware of an employee's job performance decline or change, a formal recommended referral to the EAP is made. The supervisor may contact the EAP to inform them of the incoming referral. With the employee's written consent, the EAP may let the supervisor know that the employee has made contact. At times, there may be mandatory referrals.

Shop Steward Referral
The employee may request assistance from their union representative, who may in turn suggest that the employee contact the EAP as a helpful resource.

We believe that employees at all levels have the ability to be healthy and productive contributors.
